LGBTQIA+ off-campus

Studying off-campus can be a life affirming experience, developing personal qualities of resilience, courage, perseverance, adaptability, cross-cultural communication, global awareness, self-awareness and more!

Whether you鈥檙e thinking that there鈥檚 an all-inclusive utopian land far away, or are concerned about not being welcomed, the fact is YMMV, and whilst studying abroad is rarely without its challenges, almost everyone who does it, speaks to the benefits of the experience, even amidst the challenges which provide an opportunity to learn, grow and develop skills and experience.聽

Do your research

An online search will provide you with a list of countries and their legal/regulatory environment, but governments do not always reflect the opinions of ordinary people, so it鈥檚 worth taking time to try to find out about cultural attitudes in the country you鈥檙e thinking of studying in. Even then be aware, just like at home, attitudes can vary from one area to the next and from one person to the other, however some countries have well established聽 communities where you鈥檙e more likely to find a support network, however, allies can be found everywhere.
